Tax Due Date Approaching

Stafford County Real Estate and Personal Property tax bills for the first half of 2024 have been mailed and the due date is approaching. The taxes are due on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. The Stafford Treasurer’s Office encourages citizens to mail payments early or to schedule payments online to avoid penalties due to mail service delays. There are many convenient ways to pay, including the secure online bill-paying system, Invoice Cloud. Citizens can always call the Treasurer’s Office with concerns or questions.

“My office stands ready to assist with any questions or issues regarding tax payments,” said Stafford Treasurer Mike Sienkowski. “We have multiple ways to make payments and we are happy to walk residents through them.”

Approximately 150,000 real estate and personal property tax bills are currently available online and ready for payment.  Tax bills were sent out via post office mail in early May. If you did not receive a statement or have payment questions, please contact the Treasurer’s Office at (540) 658-8700 as soon as possible.

The Treasurer’s Office accepts cash, checks, money orders, debit and credit cards. You may pay online by credit card or e-check at the Invoice Cloud portal on Stafford’s website, by phone at (540) 608-2142, in person at the Treasurer’s Office, by mail, or via the after-hours drop box located at the front of the entrance to the George L. Gordon, Jr., Government Center, 1300 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA 22554.

A 10% penalty will be added to unpaid first-half 2024 taxes after June 5, 2024, and 10% interest per annum will start July 1, 2024.
