Construction to Begin on the Berea Church Road Improvement Project on April 30

Stafford County will begin permanent closures on April 30, 2024 on the Berea Church Road Improvement Project. This locally administered project to improve safety on Berea Church Road has a total cost of $12,559,206 and is funded with VDOT Revenue Sharing and Local Funding. Stafford County has made it a priority to make the County roads safer and easier to travel for its residents.

The project will reconstruct Berea Church from its intersection with Truslow Road to its intersection with Route 17. This work will vastly improve the road, providing paved shoulders, improving drainage, constructing wider lanes, and more. The paved shoulders will accommodate bicycles and pedestrians, making it safer for them to travel the road.

Flagging operations and full lane closures of Berea Church Road for two-way traffic will occur throughout the different phases of construction. Access to US-17 and Truslow Road will be maintained for all local traffic on Berea Church Road. The project will take two years and is estimated to be completed in August 2026. The phases and durations of each closure can be seen on the project’s brochure.
