For more than 200 years, residents of Safford County have served honorably in our nation’s armed forces to preserve freedom and democracy. From the Revolutionary War to the present conflict in Afghanistan, many of these men and women have made the ultimate sacrifice. We will recognize, honor, and remember their sacrifice, and that of their families, by constructing an inspiring memorial that will preserve their memory for future generations. The memorial will be a fitting place for the public to honor the fallen and a physical reminder to our citizens that the preservation of freedom requires sacrifice.

Concept
Construct a Stafford County Armed Forces Memorial and surrounding grounds that creates:
  • A sense of community.
  • A sense of pride.
  • A sense of sacrifice.
  • A sense of honor and courage.
  • A sense of history, and
  • A sense of simple beauty.
  • A sense of awe.
