Find a career in a fast growing municipality with the opportunity to be an integral part of a dynamic Fire and Rescue Department?
Stafford County (home to Marine Corps Base Quantico and the FBI Academy) is a rapidly growing suburban Washington, DC jurisdiction of over 150,000 residents with excellent schools and recreation opportunities. Stafford County is rich in both Colonial and Civil War history - boasting George Washington’s boyhood home and offers many exciting career and personal growth opportunities.
Career personnel work side-by-side with over 300 active volunteers serving throughout the 14 fire and rescue stations, answering over 23,000 emergency calls for fire and rescue services each year.
Our department is growing and so are the demands and challenges faced by our personnel. Our challenges include those faced by many fire and rescue services in a suburban environment, but are further challenged by several of the county’s unique vulnerabilities such as marine traffic on the Rappahannock and Potomac Rivers, commuter rail service, high security and historically significant facilities, a regional airport, one of the busiest sections of Interstate highway in the nation and the second fastest growing population in the Washington, DC metro area.
