General Juror Information
Jurors are selected from voter registrations and the Department of Motor Vehicles at random for each court term. Jury payment is set out of the Code of Virginia, Section 17.1-618, which sets the fee for jurors at $50.00 per day for expenses for travel incident to jury service.

Jurors report to: (no later than 8:30 a.m. on scheduled date)

No bare shoulders, no shorts, no flip-flops and no T-shirts with slogans. You may want to bring a light jacket or sweater, as the courtroom may be quite cool.
Jurors will be given time for lunch each day. You may wish to bring a lunch or snack with you, as well as water/coffee as there may be limited time to eat lunch away from the courthouse. Given enough time, there is a deli across the street and other fast food establishments within a short driving distance. Please be advised some cases have the potential to run into the evening, prepare accordingly.
Cell phones are permissible during the breaks, but jurors are required to turn cell phones off during court. Advise the Security desk that you are a Juror and you will be allowed to bring in your cell phone. Please keep in mind, you will be passing through security, leave all unnecessary items (pocket knives, mace, etc.) at home.
On Your Day of Service
ENTERING THE COURTHOUSE: A separate entrance has been designated for jurors. When you come to the Courthouse for your scheduled date for jury duty, please use the entrance on the right side of the building marked for "JURY". This is not the general public entrance. Once Security is aware you are a Juror, they will direct you to the Jury Assembly Room on the lower level. All Jurors scheduled to report need to report no later than 8:30 a.m.
