Hospital Joins the Stafford Race Series

The Stafford Hospital 5K has a new name this year – the Spring Fever 5K Run/Walk, a Coldwell Banker Elite Grand Prix and Stafford Race Series – and a couple of new twists – a competition between members of the Board of Supervisors and inclusion in the Stafford Race Series. Supervisors are asking residents to participate in the 5K and signify in which election district they live in a competition to see which districts have the most participation. As well, the Spring 5K Challenge joins the Frosty 5K and the Halloween 5K to comprise the Stafford Race Series, in a partnership between Stafford Hospital and the Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center.

“I’ve participated many times in this 5K, and it’s a great event for the whole family. This year, I’ve challenged my fellow supervisors to a contest to see who can draw the most participants from their district.,” said Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Gary Snellings. “Stafford is becoming a destination for recreational opportunities and the inclusion of this race in the race series expands those offerings.”

Upon registration, participants are asked to signify the election district in which they reside. The district with the most participants will be recognized at the race, which will give the winning supervisor bragging rights over the next year.

Stafford Hospital has held this race over the last ten years, and it has proven to be a favorite race for locals, especially families. This year it becomes a part of the Stafford Race Series, a group of three races where points are tracked for those who run all three races. At the end of the season, awards are presented to the highest point recipients. The Spring Fever 5K is also a race in the Coldwell Banker Elite Grand Prix Race Series.

The Spring 5K Challenge is being held on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Stafford Hospital. The public may register online in advance or on the day of the event starting at 7:00 a.m. There will be a ½-mile kid’s race beginning at 8:00 a.m. The 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m. Additionally, there will be fun for the whole family with vendors, food, music and more. Visit to register and learn more about the race.
