Stafford Seeks Citizens' Support for License Plate October 2 Stafford County officials are asking all citizens to “ride with pride” and reserve a special Stafford Signature License Plate. The red, white and blue plate has “Stafford County” imprinted on it and features a profile of George Washington, who spent his childhood at Ferry Farm in south Stafford. The Department of Motor Vehicles will produce the plates, but cannot do so until a minimum of 350 sets have been reserved. Board of Supervisors member George Schwartz, Falmouth District, said the more reservations, the better. “We can have more than what is required, but the DMV will not begin production until 350 residents commit to purchase a set,” he said. “It’s a beautiful design, and I encourage residents to be pioneers in getting this unique plate created.” DMV will charge an annual fee of $10 for the plate. As is the case for all special plates, drivers can personalize a message (up to six characters) for an additional $10 per year.
