Stafford Seeks Public Input on Courthouse Area Redevelopment
June 8
The Stafford County departments of Economic Development and
Planning will host a public forum on Thursday, June 28, 2007, to present their
economic development and redevelopment vision for the area around the county’s
courthouse at the intersection of Jefferson Davis
Highway (Route 1) and Courthouse Road
(Route 630).
The proposed plans include
mixed-use development with office parks, an open air
market, green spaces, and a pedestrian-friendly town square. Staff from
both departments will provide an overview of the vision including conceptual
renderings and maps. The revitalization effort is
part of Stafford’s Economic Development
Strategic Plan designed to guide the county in attracting new businesses and
industries and enhancing the quality of life for citizens.
Property owners in the affected area and representatives
from Medicorp, Virginia Department of Transportation,
Stafford County School Board, Sheriff’s Office and county government offices
have been invited to provide input about the impact of the redevelopment
initiatives. Local elected officials and representatives from several
citizen committees will also be in attendance. Members of the Board of
Supervisors, Economic Development Authority and Planning Commission will
participate in the discussions and
answer questions from business owners and residents.
The event will be held from 7:00
p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Board Chambers of the Stafford Administration Center, located at 1300 Courthouse
Road.
All interested individuals are
invited to attend the public forum. For more information, please contact Brad
