Va. Code § 24.2-701(A) requires that the Registrar's Office be open a minimum of 8 hours on the two Saturdays prior to a general election ("except May general elections held in towns").

Last Day to Apply for Absentee Ballot by Mail

Va. Code § 24.2-701(B)(2) requires that all by-mail AB applications be received no later than 5 pm on the seventh day prior to the election.

Va. Code § 24.2-709 requires that absentee ballots be returned before the closing of the polls.

*Absentee Ballots may be returned via USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, or any other approved courier service.  Absentee Ballots may also be hand delivered ONLY by the person that received the Absentee Ballot.
