NEW WATER RATES (Effective July 1, 2008)
In an effort to encourage water conservation, the Stafford Board of Supervisors has adopted an ordinance to increase the water rates for customers who use more than 20,000 thousand gallons of water per month. The ordinance will go into effect on July 1, 2008, and will be reflected on bills beginning August 1, 2008. Customers with irrigation meters will be charged the bulk rate of $13.00 per thousand gallons, up from $9.90. This increase will affect some businesses, public facilities and homeowners’ associations.
Stafford County has separate rate structures for residential and non-residential & multifamily customers.
Residential water bills are calculated using an inclining block rate. This means that the more water you use, the higher the unit price. Please use water wisely.
Stafford County recognizes that higher water usage by residents during the summer months is usually due to outside activities – watering lawns, washing cars, filling pools, etc. For this reason, residential sewer charges are capped at 120% of winter average.
Bills for non-residential and multifamily customers are calculated using a flat rate, with no cap on sewer. Actual water and sewer rates are: (costs are per thousand gallons) Non-Residential and Residential Water Consumption (per thousand gallons) | WATER | SEWER | Residential: | | | 0 – 4,000 | $ 1.86 | $3.91 | 4,001 – 8,000 | $ 2.82 | $3.91 | 8,001 – 12,000 | $ 5.51 | $3.91 | 12,001 – 20,000 | $ 7.85 | $3.91 | All over 20,000 | $23.55 | $3.91 | | | | Non-Residential:(excludes Irrigation Meters) | | | All Usage | $ 2.83 | $3.91 | | | | Monthly Service Charge: | | | (per account) | $ 1.74 | $1.85 | | | | Monthly Demand Charge: | | | (per equivalent meter) | $ 1.77 | $5.49 | | | | Irrigation Meters: | Same As Bulk Rate | | | | | Bulk Rate (per 1,000 gal): | $13.00
