Continued reliability of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems is the main objective of this division of Utilities. Installation of new water and sewer services, repair of water main breaks, clearing of sewer blockages, water main and sewer main flushing, fire hydrant testing and maintenance, water and sewer line location, and television inspection of new and existing sewer mains are but a few of the tasks performed by the highly-skilled and dedicated members of this division.  In addition to work performed during normal working hours, a crew of three is on call at all times after hours, on weekends, and on holidays to respond to emergency calls. In 2005, a total of over 1,100 work orders were generated for work to be completed by Field Operations. This did not include work performed after normal working hours.
