Mission Statement
Stafford County Department of Social Services strives to provide quality assistance and comprehensive services to citizens in need that will strengthen the family structure while promoting self-reliance, responsibility for family and protection of children and adults from abuse, neglect and exploitation through community-based services.
We belong to a network of 121 local social services agencies across the state of Virginia. Our office is located on the 1st floor in the Government Center on Courthouse Road. A Social Services Board is in charge of the agency. The Board meets on the 3rd Monday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in the Stafford County Government Center.
The Social Services Board Purpose and Goal:
· to provide an efficient and effective public welfare program to the citizens of Stafford County
· to communicate to the citizens of Stafford County the availability of services
· to foster the involvement of County citizens in social services
· to strengthen the family as the central structure of a free, caring and self-sufficient society
Programs and Services
We administer the following Benefit Assistance programs: TANF- Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, Food Stamp Program, Medicaid, Auxiliary Grant Assistance, Energy Assistance, General Relief Assistance and Smoke Detector Referral Assistance. Our Service programs include: Child Protective Services, Foster Care, Respite Care, Child Custody Investigation, Adoption Assistance, Adult Services, Adult Protective Services, Child Day Care Services, Employment Services, Parenting Education Services and Volunteer Services.
