Anyone may report a concern about a child’s well being, provided the report is made in good faith. All reports are investigated immediately by the social workers. The reporter is not required to give his or her name. A local social worker is on call at all times. It is helpful for the reporter to provide certain information:
--Name and address of the child and the parent or other responsible person
--Child’s age, sex and race
--Description of the alleged abuse
--Name of the school the child attends
--Names of other people in the home
--Directions to the home
--Reporter’s relationship to the child

Reports of child abuse and neglect can be made in person or by telephone to the Stafford County Department of Social Services at 540- 658-8720.
