Zoning

The Stafford County Zoning Division administers, maintains, and enforces the Zoning Ordinance and related regulations to assure that property is developed and used in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance.

All requests for zoning verification are to be submitted, in writing, to the Department of Planning and Zoning, P. O. Box 339, Stafford, VA 22555. Please be sure to include the assessor’s map and parcel number, or we will be unable to process your request. Map and parcel numbers are available from the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office at 658-8650.

The fee for Zoning Verifications is $50 per parcel.

You should receive a written response to your request in approximately 10 days; however, unusual or multiple requests may take longer. Verifications will not be made over the telephone.

The easiest and quickest way to obtain zoning verification is to review the maps and files in the Department of Planning and Zoning  at the Stafford Administration Center at 1300 Courthouse Road, during regular business hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
