Volunteers Needed
Volunteer Citizen Assistance Teams
(CATs) and Positions Available
Citizen Assistance (TOPCAT) Volunteers provide
customer service, switchboard and ombudsman services for the County. Because
they answer so many different kinds of questions, they train in the classroom
and on the job to provide this interesting and vital service for Stafford
County.
Emergency Response Citizen Assistance Team (ERCAT) Volunteers are
especially trained to respond at times of disaster or erriergency. They answer
questions for citizens relieving 9-1-1 of non-emergency calls arid stopping the
spread of rumors. They train once a quarter and participate in mock
drills.
Sheriffs Office Team (SHOCAT) Volunteers
provide data entry into the County's safety computer program at the Sheriffs
Office. They enter safety/police records of all kinds into the system. Their
goal is to keep the department up to date on these vital records. They are
trained on the job.
Court Citizen Assistance (CourtCAT)
Volunteers work as clerks in General District and Juvenile and Domestic
Relations Court Clerks Offices. They assist with filing and data
entry.
Stafford Response to Animals Citizen Assistance
Team (STRACAT)
Volunteers commit themselves to respond during disaster times to care for
animals of all kinds in shelter area. They train quarterly.
Other volunteers work as needed at special tasks
or to assist with special events.
