Adopting an Animal

How To Adopt

Dogs and cats may be adopted from the Stafford County Animal Shelter located at 473 Eskimo Hill Road, 2 miles east of its intersection with Jefferson Davis Highway. The shelter is open between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday and 9:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. There is a $20.00 adoption fee for dogs and a $10.00 adoption fee for cats.

All puppies adopted from the shelter are given the first series of shots and are dewormed for round worms only. For information on adopting an animal from the Animal Shelter, call 540-658-7387.

Animals may also be adopted through the Pet Assistance League, a non-profit organization devoted to finding homes for homeless animals. For more information, contact the Rescue Coordinator at 540-659-5018.  Adoption fees vary per animal.
